I attended ITA in 2019 and it was one of the best on-line courses I’ve ever taken. That’s saying a lot after spending 38 years in the Dept. of Defense. The instructors were very good and the videos were very well done. Videos were short, most less than 5 minutes, easy to understand and to the point.

One of the things I like most about ITA is the ITA staff and how quickly they help students. What’s most impressive to me, I can still e-mail them with a question or request for support, and they continue to provide timely assistance even though it’s been almost a year since I graduated. I can’t tell how much I appreciate this.

Lastly, every text book is a gold mine of information. I always use these as references to help me teach my on-line classes.

Thanks ITA!

I have taken the ITA Online course and find the overall teaching very helpful to any “would be” ESL teacher. The course notes are written in the manner that is easy to understand, the tasks given at the end of each module further help me comprehend what I have learnt. The only setbacks that I find are that each module to be complete in a week, which could be stressful for working adults. If each module is stretch over a period of two weeks, that will be great. Another suggestion is to have more real-life examples and videos for each module and that will be great too. Thank you ITA for the wonderful online course.

Short version: A TEFL/TESOL certification is necessary for teaching abroad. ITA is absolutely the best TEFL certification course I can imagine. I looked high and low, bit the bullet for the 200 hour course, and I have been astounded at how worthwhile the course has been.

Long version: I’m planning on teaching in S. Korea. When researching what I would need, it became evident that I would need a TEFL certification to actually get into any school (if there’s a school that lets you in without a TEFL cert., you’re going to have a bad time). I came across a bunch of courses for $50 – $500. ITA was $1200 for the course I took (200 hour course – 180 online, 20 practicum). Big cost difference. I was wondering why it would cost so much. I did copious amounts of research and found a bunch of corroborating evidence that pointed to ITA being worth the price. I bit the bullet, bought the course, started classes 2 weeks later, immediately started contacting the job placement people, was helped with my resume and cover letter (I’ve been complimented on it by recruiting agencies several times now), and started reading all of the course content. I have absolutely loved my experience and found significantly more value in it than $1200.

I have only just finished my course and I already have a job in Korea.

Content – 10/10

Content is insanely more helpful, applicable, relevant, and interesting than I expected.

Assignments – 9.5/10

Everything was there that I wanted. There was also things that I didn’t know I wanted. I was surprised at how thorough the class was and how applicable the assignments were. Much of it was oriented around building lesson plans and how to use them. Also, how to build, plan, and integrate activity plans within lesson plans and class rooms of different cultural settings and with students at varying levels of English skills.

Instructor – 10/10

Fair, communicative, knowledgeable, good feedback, and quick. Everything I could ask for.

Recommendation for if you take the class:

Read the Guidance Manual. Even after I researched for 3 weeks straight, I never found anything even close to rivaling the value of this book in regard to teaching abroad. Literally everything for every country, as well as the legal hoops to jump through, recommended agencies, and what to watch out for.

Best book on the subject. Period.

My experience at TEFL academy is been very rewarding. My enrollment advisor was very helpful in answering all my questions. My professor was amazing ! I felt very challenged and I feel so excited to start my career as an ESL teacher. I am still currently working with my student affairs advisor but in the process to my job search for China. Thank you so much! Also, all the faculty at TEFL have beautiful personalities and helpful customer service.

I strongly recommend it! Honestly I was a bit afraid to take it being a non-native speaker. But I did it, and feel proud of my self. I improved my fluency and confidence using this language and I think this experience will help me in many ways, not only as a teacher.

I love the content. it´s well organized and structured. I am meticulous with orthography (even in my language) and writing, and I didn´t see any details in this content, what I think it´s very valuable. If you are going to teach, you first need to access to clean contents, and these were.

My instructor was a ighly prepared person, she knows a lot! and is very available as well. You need to meet them! I am almost sure all of them have good reasons to be teaching here!

The only thing I feel needs improvement is the practicum information and connections. I would like to get the best of that experience, but I don´t think is easy to find the best place to do it, make the right connections, particularly when we come from every place of the world.

thanks!

International TEFL Academy was a wonderful way to complete my TEFL certification. The lessons were engaging and informative. The instructors were helpful and knowledgable. The online platform was able to be accessed based on my personal schedule and was easy to navigate. The classroom materials and texts were easy to read and understand. There is nothing I would change about this experience, and I am glad I made the choice to go with ITA.
